Edna Forero is the spouse of a Marine Corps veteran and joins the Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN) as the new MilCents Program Coordinator.
Over the past 22 years, Edna has worked in the financial industry to provide relevant and objective financial education and financial services to both the civilian and military communities. In 2011, she was awarded a military spouse fellowship from the Financial Industry National Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and received her accreditation as a financial counselor. Since that time, she has worked with civilian, military, and nonprofit organizations to provide financial education and counseling services. Edna also participated in the CFPB Financial Coaching Initiative where her counseling services extended to the economically vulnerable population in her community of West Palm Beach, Florida. Edna specializes in convening community-sponsored financial education summits with organizations including the Urban League, Dress for Success, Sickle Cell Foundation of Palm Beach County, and the Florida Prosperity Partnership.
Edna is committed to lending her time and talent to nonprofit organizations including VITA where she provides free tax preparation for military families and training for new tax professionals. Edna also volunteers at Eagle Rock Camp where she provides financial resilience workshops for wounded service members and those transitioning between active duty and civilian life. In 2017, Edna developed a two part webinar series for Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education®, a professional financial education association, discussing the Latino culture and its financial challenges.
Edna holds a master’s degree in human resources with an emphasis on labor relations and bachelor’s degrees in business administration and psychology. As a proud advocate for education and an admitted lifelong learner, Edna is currently working on a Chartered Financial Consultant designation as a scholarship recipient from the American College of Financial Services.
