Data Analyst

The Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN) is seeking a full-time data analyst to assist with qualitative and quantitative research focused on military families, service members, and veterans. This position is a remote opportunity.

MFAN is a nonprofit with a simple mission: connect military and veteran families to resources designed to serve them.

MFAN conducts national surveys to qualitatively evaluate the status of support programming and the effects of military service on family life. Data has been used to shape policies and programming for military and veteran families.

We are looking for a candidate who is detail-oriented, and who doesn’t miss a deadline. Someone who is a self-starter excels at managing time and projects and is equally comfortable working independently or with a team.

The candidate must have previous experience analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data and presenting findings in written reports.

Main responsibilities:

  • Quickly and accurately code, analyze, and evaluate large qualitative data sets.
  • Analyze and evaluate quantitative data in mixed methods projects
  • Manage and implement a detailed project schedule and work plan both in support of a team
  • Use Qualtrics software in analysis and reporting
  • Produce reports and clearly and effectively communicate and visualize research findings
  • Provide updates on a consistent basis to the team and key partners about project adjustments and progress
  • Support relationships as a point of contact for key project partners and maintain alignment with project goals
  • Perform quality control on assigned tasks
  • Quickly adapt and adjust to scheduling and target changes to fit the needs of the project, team, and partner

Skills required:

  • Master’s degree or 5 years of relevant research experience
  • Previous experience with coding qualitative data, analyzing mixed methods data set, and communicating key themes in a professional setting
  • A passion for understanding and supporting military families
  • Highly organized with superior attention to detail
  • Highly effective in written and verbal communication
  • Solution-oriented relationship manager with the ability to maintain organizational priorities
  • Proven self-starter with strong interpersonal and time management skills
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outline scope and timeline

Candidates are expected to have a dedicated workspace and work during MFAN’s core hours 98 am – 5 pm ET, Monday through Thursday, 8 am – 2 pm on Friday. Occasional weekend and after-hours work can be expected.  This position may be subject to travel as needed.
