A Twitter chat is like a meeting on Twitter; it has a specific discussion topic and a scheduled start time. Using the hashtag #MilCents at the end of each tweet, MFAN will ask questions to a group of financial experts.
Kellie Artis is an Army spouse, military advocate, and writer. She was born and raised in the Carolinas, met her husband in college, and married him right before he was deployed with the 82nd Airborne Division. She has been a military spouse for 11 years and constantly immerses herself in the military community.
Kellie is the director of communications and business development for MILLIE, a startup focused on easing the stress of PCS’ing on military families. Kellie is also the managing editor of The MILLIE Journal, in which role she encourages and empowers military spouses to share stories about how they overcome the challenges of military life. Having PCS’d seven times, she and her family have been exposed to many different people, places, lifestyles, and cultures.
In addition, Kellie serves on the board of a veteran-owned arts nonprofit called Child of this Culture. The group teaches kids, typically in military communities, methods of self-expression through early exposure to the arts, focusing on the positive aspects of hip-hop culture. She also spends time connecting with other military families through In Gear Career, Blue Star Spouses, and InDependent.
Kellie has a Bachelor of Arts in corporate communication from the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Before joining MILLIE, Kellie worked in a variety of industries, including hospitality, fine arts, retail management, and serving as the executive assistant to a venture capitalist.
