Temporary qualitative data analyst

The Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN), a national nonprofit organization that serves military families, is seeking a part-time qualitative data analyst to code large data sets of textual information. This is a virtual position with flexible hours.

MFAN conducts national surveys to qualitatively evaluate the status of support programming and the effects of military service on family life. Previous work has shown military families’ experiences in privatized military housing, and various military populations’ experiences with food insecurity. Data has been used to shape policies and programming for military and veteran families.

We are looking for a candidate who is detail-oriented, and who doesn’t miss a deadline. A self-starter who has experience managing qualitative data and CAQDAS. This candidate would be part of a team of researchers working on separate elements of the same large project.

Main responsibilities:

  • Qualitative data analysis of large textual data sets
  • Describe and quantify main themes that emerge in data
  • Use of Qualtrics software in analysis and reporting

Skills required:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree that included coursework in qualitative research methods
  • Previous experience with coding qualitative data, analyzing textual data sets, and communicating key themes in an educational or professional setting
  • Highly organized with superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work at a fast pace

This is a temporary contractor role, and we expect approximately 20 hours per week between November 2021 through February 2022. Hours can be flexible, with some requirements to attend meetings during traditional business hours.
