A Twitter chat is like a meeting on Twitter; it has a specific discussion topic and a scheduled start time. Using the hashtag #MilCents at the end of each tweet, MFAN will ask questions to a group of financial experts.
Amanda Nguyen is a sociologist and mixed methods researcher who is passionate about understanding social processes that affect life outcomes and making substantive changes to reduce social vulnerability. As a sociologist, her career has focused on military organizational practices, military personnel, veterans, and military families. Her research interests include (but are not limited to) recruiting, workforce diversity, women and leadership, education, veteran outcomes, and military spouse employment.
She has worked on military policy projects at the RAND Corporation evaluating research findings to develop strategic solutions for the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. She also has teaching experience in the history of veteran policy issues for undergraduates at the University of Maryland.
Amanda is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Maryland-College Park, where she also holds a Masters in Sociology and a Bachelors in Sociology and Criminology & Criminal Justice. Her doctorate specialties are in Social Inequality & Mobility and Military Sociology.
