A Twitter chat is like a meeting on Twitter; it has a specific discussion topic and a scheduled start time. Using the hashtag #MilCents at the end of each tweet, MFAN will ask questions to a group of financial experts.
After 30 years of service, René Campos retired from the Navy, where she held a variety of challenging positions in policy and program management. In addition to being a Navy retiree, she is a Navy spouse and government relations manager at the Project Management Institute (PMI). At PMI, René advocates for project management as a profession in government departments and agencies. Prior to joining PMI, René worked at the Military Officers Association of America as the deputy director of government relations, focusing on issues related to family policy, wounded warriors, and military and veteran health.
René is passionate about issues related to the military, veterans, and military families—especially those involving family support, deployment and transition, employment, education and training, wounded warriors, health, and caregiver support. She is also interested in organizational policies, programs, and infrastructure issues that directly affect the military community.
René has a bachelor’s degree in both criminal justice and psychology from Columbia College and an MBA in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. She lives in Annapolis, Md., with her husband, Al, a retired naval officer, and their two children, Ryan and Nissa. In addition to spending time with her family, René loves to boat, hike, ski, read, and volunteer with her church.
